It’s no secret that Microdosing has exploded in popularity over the past 2-3 years. Searches for the term “MicroDosing” has quadrupled in that same time span. Did all that hype out of Silicon Valley really sway so many people to think MicroDosing was the “Cool” and “Hip” fad. Or was there some actual substance to this new found trend?
So what is it exactly? A microdose is generally considered to be one-20th to one-10th of a recreational dose. If someone’s seeing things, he or she has taken too much. Most people microdose mushrooms or LSD, but other drugs have also become popular of late.
Typically the dealer creates MicroDoses by taking the psilocybin “magic” mushrooms, grinding them into a powder and then pressing them into pills or putting them in capsules. There’s actually a market for street drugs that are not getting people high. They’re not taking it to get high. They’re taking it as a life hack. To tap into the creative juices the Shrooms unlock. For the creative energy that comes taking smaller doses of the active ingredient in Mushrooms, the smaller doses pack the right amount of creative punch.
“They’re not taking it to get high. They’re taking it as a life hack.”
I spent a week in December experimenting in taking smaller doses, now they were not technically MicroDoses. But they were minute compared to the 3.5 grams I usually consume. I found my social anxiety completely removed, and my energy levels were through the roof. I took them before work 3 out of the 5 days that week. Upping the dose each time. I was super focused on the tasks and much more outgoing and talkative. Normally I am quite reserved at work. I don’t really care but to socialize with 1 or 2 people. And I found myself initiating more conversations and just found the company of others more enjoyable.
I have heard people say they are not using them to escape from life but to enhance them.
There are tons of reports that show millenials are drinking way less and doing drugs like cocaine are virtually unheard of in most circles. But the use of Shrooms and LSD are blasting off into orbit, the same way users a generation ago were hitting the crack pipes.
The MicroDosing trend has truly been a rebranding and that is a very millennial thing, taking something that was old and outdated and spinning it into something that is trendy. And not just trendy for them but for older generations as well. Ok Boomer. There are lots of older hippy generation (Boomers) that are into MicroDosing as well. Paul Stamets has his own MicroDosing regime that is unique in its own right.
One of the most popular advocates of microdosing LSD and psilocybin here in the United States has been Dr. James Fadiman, a licensed psychologist based in California who has been studying psychedelics for over 50 years. According to Dr. Fadiman, psychedelics drugs taken in microdoses can be safely used to treat everything from asthma and allergies to depression, the common cold and menstrual problems. Currently, microdosing LSD is said to be relatively common in Silicon Valley, where proponents of the practice claim that they are able to use microdosing as a productivity hack — a way to help software engineers, coders, computer programmers and others in the high-paced, high-pressure tech industry perform at peak levels.
Whatever your speed, MicroDosing is here to stay and whether or not it’s beneficial, who is to say. There are studies that prove it either way. The point is does it work for you? I always say to people be your own scientist! We are only put here for a short period of time, Experimenting should be what we do daily. Be it Deprogramming our subconscious or figuring out trading crypto and stocks. Forever challenge yourself, whenever you get “there” another “there” is surely right around the next corner.
If you liked this article and want to join my holistic community where experimenting is put back into your hands. Become the scientist you have always desired.
